Inspiration and ideas can appear in many forms and come from many directions, but the idea for this exhibition came from a dream that one curator had about the red color which Valgerður used in many of her works. It can be said that this exhibition is the fruit of that dream.
The curators: Anna Hallin, Olga Bergmann and Guðrún Vera Hjartardóttir. They chose 8 artists to show with Valgerður's work and with this the curators wanted to create a context - to weave together a certain narrative and conversations with other strong women artists of different generations.
The artists are Brák Jónsdóttir, Hildur Henrýsdóttir, Hildur Hákonardóttir, Inga Svala Þórsdóttir, Katrín Inga Jónsdóttir Hjördísardóttir, Rakel McMahon, Rósa Sigrún Jónsdóttir og Sigrún Gyða Sveinsdóttir.

The exhibition opens on 11.18.23 and runs until 02.12.24.
Myndverk sýningarinnar eru úr safneign Listasafns Reykjanesbæjar, ásamt verkum í eigu fjölskyldu listamannsins. Áki hefði orðið 100 ára á þessu ári og mun sýningin heiðra minningu listamannsins með völdu yfirliti á verkum hans.
Nýverið barst Listasafni Reykjanesbæjar dýrmæt gjöf frá Vilhjálmi Bergssyni, myndlistarmanni. Í henni er að finna verk frá lokum sjötta áratugar síðustu aldar, fram á þriðja áratug þessarar aldar; nær sjötíu ár af samfelldri myndlistarsköpun Vilhjálms Bergssonar.
